GREATER DETROIT CHAPTER

LAUNCHES URGENT APPEAL TO HELP UNICEF

We in the United States learn daily of one cataclysmic event after another in multiple countries across the globe. These tragic events and their aftermath leave literally millions of children and their families in dire need of food, clean water, shelter and emergency health care. UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund) as a vital arm of the United Nations, USA Assn. is always one of the first organizations to respond to these crises and provide help where most needed.  In view of the situations now in Haiti, Syria, the middle-east and Africa, all concurrent,

UNICEF is in URGENT NEED OF FUNDS NOW!

On October 22, 2016 the Greater Detroit Chapter, UNA-USA launched a campaign to support UNICEF in a funding effort to enable this worthwhile organization to continue their global work.  At the United Nation's Day observance on that date, almost 100 orange "Trick or Treat" UNICEF boxes were distributed to members and friends in attendance, to be given to children and/or adults to carry on Halloween night and after. The boxes will be used to collect coins, bills and/or checks (made out to UNICEF, please) and returned as recommended below to one of the Chapter's affiliates.  Due to the seriousness of the need for  funding now, our Chapter is extending the length of the campaign thru the entire month of November.

A goal of a MINIMUM OF $5,000 has been set for 2016.  However, we expect to exceed that amount with the participation of many individuals and organizations. We will post weekly the proceeds received for the previous week. Please check this website each Tuesday for an update.

WE ASK YOU AND/OR YOUR ORGANIZATION TO JOIN FORCES WITH THE GREATER DETROIT CHAPTER IN THIS DRIVE SO WE CAN MAXIMIZE THE IMPACT   FOR UNICEF AND LIKEWISE BOLSTER THE IMAGE OF OUR LOCAL CHAPTER, UNA-USA AND THE IMAGE OF OUR STATE AND CITY AS WELL.

Your participation will not only benefit UNICEF, but you will sleep better at night knowing you are a part of the solution.  Our young participants will experience an increased awareness of world situations and deepen their empathy for those less fortunate.
