Of the more than 65 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, 21.3 million of those people are refugees -- and half are children. Many of these children do not have access to their basic human right to education.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), along with their U.S. fundraising arm UNHCR-USA, has partnered with UNA-USA to educate refugee children to help secure a brighter and more sustainable future for one of the world's most vulnerable populations.

The Adopt-A-Future program is an opportunity for Americans to directly support education for refugee children abroad, and to help welcome refugee families here at home in our local communities.

The Greater Detroit UNA Chapter is proud to partner with the Greater Lansing UNA Chapter for the Adopt-A-Future program. Over the next two years, we will work together to raise $30,000 for a new classroom to serve the education needs of 40 refugee children for 10 years. Our fundraising efforts will focus on raising funds to build a classroom in either the Dadaab or Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya.  More information will be available in the coming days and we encourage businesses, organizations and individuals interested in partnering with us to please contact us at Info@unadetroit.org for more information. Let's work together to ensure that refugee children are able to realize their human right to education ---- let's Adopt-A-Future
